ESCAPE WITH YOUR LOVE INTO THE WORLD OF ROMANTIC MOVIES!
When Harry Met Sally (1989)
Can men and women remain friends without sex getting in the way? Nora Ephron's episodic screenplay introduces womanizing, neurotic Harry (Billy Crystal) and ambitious, equally neurotic Sally (Meg Ryan) as chums who resist sexual attraction to maintain their friendship -- a relationship always teetering on the brink of love. As the two draw closer, the question resurfaces: Can they stay just pals? Carrie Fisher and Bruno Kirby co-star.
Most people I know cite this as one of their favorite of all romance movies. What is it that makes it so romantic? Certainly the chemistry between Harry and Sally is fabulous. I like the honesty and frankness that they express to one another because they are "just friends". It is the slow building and deepening of their friendship through the years that seems to make their love union so strong and so inevitable. Delicious!
A love story built on a misunderstanding, While You Were Sleeping proved that Sandra Bullock could carry a film. She plays a transit worker who pulls commuter Peter Gallagher off the tracks after he's mugged. But while he's in a coma, his family mistakenly thinks she's Gallagher's fiancée, and she doesn't correct them. Things get more complicated when she falls for his brother (Bill Pullman).
A light romance. Sandra Bullock and Bill Pullman are cute in their insecure and awkward way as the identity charade falls apart.
