Far and Away (1992)
In Ron Howard's epic drama, two 19th century Irish immigrants make the journey to the United States together, but for very different reasons. Joseph Donelly (Tom Cruise) is a poor farmer who's lost everything, while Shannon Christie (Nicole Kidman) is chafing against her privileged but stifling upbringing. Looking for land as they make their way west, they also find love as they endure a series of hardships that strengthens their relationship.
Gorgeous scenery and music. On my list to watch again...then I'll say more!
Daniel (Mel Gibson) is a 1939 test pilot whose girlfriend, Helen, falls into a coma. Daniel asks his friend Harry (George Wendt), a scientist working with cryogenics, to freeze him so he doesn't have to watch Helen suffer. Fast-forward 53 years. Two boys are playing and find the freezing unit. They discover Daniel and take him home to their single mom (Jamie Lee Curtis). A relationship grows between them until Daniel learns that Helen is alive.
Also on my list to watch again... I know I loved it the first time.
