Rachel Haimowitz

by Rachel Haimowitz
(NJ)

Rachel is an M/M erotic romance author and a freelance writer and editor. She's also a sadist with a pesky conscience, shamelessly silly, and quite proudly pervish. Fortunately, all those things make writing a lot more fun for her . . . if not so much for her characters.

She originally dipped her toes into cable news and book publishing, decided the water was cold and smelled kinda funny, and moved on to helping would-be authors polish and publish, writing for websites and magazines, and ghostwriting nonfiction.

Her first novel, Counterpoint: Book One of Song of the Fallen, released in August of 2010 with Guiltless Pleasure Publishing. Things pretty much spiraled from there, and now she plans to release four or five new stories each year. She loves playing with shorts and novellas just as much as sinking her claws into the world-building fun of a novel.

When she's not writing about hot guys getting it on (or just plain getting it; her characters rarely escape a story unscathed), she loves to read, hike, camp, sing, perform in community theater, and glue captions to cats. She also has a particular fondness for her very needy dog, her even needier cat, and shouting at kids to get off her lawn.

You can find Rachel Tweeting as RachelHaimowitz, chatting in the Goodreads forums, and blogging at http://rachel-haimowitz.blogspot.com. She loves to hear from folks, so feel free to drop her a line anytime at metarachel (at) gmail (dot) com.

My lifelong passion for writing and a very overactive imagination have provided many blissful days, and nights, of weaving romantic tales. Along with erotic romance, I enjoy writing fantasy/paranormal and contemporary romance as well.

Working full-time, as well as a wife. and a mother to a seventeen-year old daughter, finding time to write can sometimes be a challenge, but it is always a priority.

I have several short erotic romance stories published at Every Night Erotica; you can find them by visiting my website at www.laylahunter.com.

Dark Desire, an erotic short story, is part of XoXo Publishing's Halloween Anthology Vo1. 1!

I am a member of RWA, NJRW, LSFW, Passionate Ink, FF&P RWA, Elements RWA, IWWG, as well as Romance Divas, Absolute Write, Savvy Authors, The Creativity Cauldron and Romance in the Backseat, where I entered and won the 2010 New Year’s Writer’s Rumble with my entry, Karma (of which I am in the process of completing).

A New Jersey native, I currently reside in an 1890 Folk Victorian that my husband and I (okay, mostly my husband) are slowly returning to its former beauty. We share this century-old home with our daughter and several delightfully comical cats, one of which is a therapy cat. Oh, and let’s not forget the ‘ghost mice’ … unseen to the human eye, our cats dutifully chase these invisible intruders throughout the house at three o’clock in the morning.

The poem - "The Bath" gives a glimpse into the content and tone of the book.

The Bath

The poem is not my lover
but it holds me just as tight.

Breathlessly I struggle
with thoughts tangled like lover's legs
crowded together
in a bathtub not meant for two.

There is no way to hold back
the pent-up emotion
lest it pour to the paper,
slippery soap out of my fingers,
the words the poem must say.

And in that washing of my soul
I bare myself,
soaking,
lathered,
wrung out.

Stepping out
of myself
with naked vulnerability,
the terry-clothed comforting caress
of just the perfect words
holds me just as tight.
