 Desert High"Just a little bit further," he said. I stumbled along beside him obediently."When do I get to take off the blindfold?" I asked. "Not yet, not yet, we're almost there," he replied, holding firmly onto my arm and steering me around yet another invisible obstruction. We'd been walking (some of us more gracefully than others) for about an hour. All I knew was that we were in New Mexico, somewhere outside of Albuquerque, in the mountains. We'd left town late in the afternoon so there couldn't be much daylight left. "Are you ready?" he asked. "We're here! Keep your eyes closed while I take off the blindfold." His arms encircled my waist and he kissed my neck. "Have a look," he whispered in my ear. As far as I could tell, we were on top of the world. The lights of Albuquerque were far, far below and just beginning to come on. The sun was setting in shades of blue and pink and lavender shot with orange. But that wasn't the best part. In front of us was a natural hot springs carved out of the rock. Roomy enough for two people to stretch out and still see the view. Does it get any better than this?
